What my students’ feedback means to me

By Amy Radin

Hello,

This just in: I am delighted to receive great feedback from my students at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies MS Technology Management program. At the end of my first semester, students completed a survey with both quantitative and qualitative questions — and here are what two of my students said:

”The framework Amy developed …was invaluable and a tool to be referenced going forward.”

“This course was a mind opener at so many different levels, I feel more confident and empowered to create meaningful impact…”

Feedback is a gift, and along with the many words of praise were generously shared insights on ways to further strengthen course content and delivery for the Fall executive cohort.

Since publishing my award-winning book, The Change Makers Playbook: How to Seek, Seed, and Scale Innovation in Any Company, and launching my advisory business, I’ve spoken virtually and live to leaders across the world in a wide variety of settings — executive strategy sessions, industry conferences, team working sessions, and professional development programs, and advised executive teams on marketing strategy, business development, growth and transformation.

Being in the classroom has been an enriching experience, contributing fresh perspectives to my client engagements.

Take a look at my speaker sheet here, and get in touch with any questions. Plus, read on for my take on why strategy matters, how I’m working with executives to change while still delivering much-needed results, and more.

Yes, You Need a Strategy

Do you know how often I hear executives say, “We don’t have the time for strategy”?

What we don’t have time for is the old way of doing strategy. While there are strategic questions that still need to be answered, the method must be iterative, flexible, fast, tolerant of ambiguity, and ready for the inevitable unexpected curveballs.

Strategy is knowing:

  1. Where you are now.
  2. Where you want to be.
  3. How you are going to get there.

This is a great time to consider your organization’s strategy – a conversation that fits neatly into mid-year performance assessments and outlook for overall business performance this fiscal year.

A solid strategy in place ensures that you can effectively lead employees, allocate resources, and shape your narrative to investors.

I’ve worked with many teams to create practical, customer-led, and data-driven pathways to strategy that make it possible for organizations to change and achieve results. Interested in learning more? Feel free to respond to this email.

Creating Change in Your Organization

Yes, activating change is important, but it needs to happen while also delivering quarter-in quarter-out results.

And doing so is the focus of my latest workshop for executives: “Creating change velocity in the face of big trends.”

In partnership with Nexxworks, I recently had the pleasure of guiding executives from a category leader to learn, unlearn, and relearn how to approach change in this world — while ensuring they continue to achieve their KPIs.

It’s possible to create transformational change today, and it requires a new skill set and mindset. Do you and your team have them?

With summer kicking off, I hope you will take the time to refresh — and reflect on how you frame yourself and your brand story in your messaging and conversations. As I share in my latest Fast Company article

“Relationships are built on trust. Trust is fostered when you give people insights into who you are, which then inspires emotional connection.”

I’m glad to be in community with all of you, and I hope that I can help you get closer to pursuing your unique mission and achieving your goals. Please reach out — I’d love to connect.

Warm regards,
